We’re in this together. People of the New River Valley have a long history of coming together to support each other and the opioid misuse/abuse crisis is no different. Substance use disorder is scary and overwhelming, and even having the conversation can carry stigma. The region has created a network of local agencies and governments, community members, and healthcare professionals with resources to help build the NRV Recovery Ecosystem. Substance misuse impacts all of us from individuals, families, communities, and workplaces and it will take all of us learning and working together to make change happen.
Check out the resources below on how to talk to people in your life about substance use and how to support friends, family and coworkers who are living with addiction, seeking treatment, or in recovery.
Recovery is the beginning, not just an end to using and a recovery ecosystem creates opportunity for all to learn, access resources, and support each other.
